Secessionist fighters have this Wednesday June 26, released the Archbishop of Bamenda, His Lordship Esua Cornelius, kidnapped a day ago round Njinikejem in Boyo division, North West region.

The Man of God had spent his first night in the dreaded Ambazonian camp in the area, along with his driver and another priest.

Reports say armed separatists in the area blocked the highway to prevent movement from Bamenda to Fundong, the headquarters of Boyo Division.

Attempts made by some separatist leaders to see into the immediate release of the Archbishop of Tuesday were all futile.
Nothing has been said about the circumstances that led to his release and if the church paid a ransom.

Few days ago along the same highway, armed separatist fighters stopped the convoy of the Bishop of Kumbo, His Grace George Nkuo, as he was heading to Njinikom to ordain a new member of the Mill Hill Missionaries.
His convoy was held down for almost five hours and they were only allowed to continue their mission, after each car owner paid a sum of FCFA 5000.

This is not the first time, religious authorities especially the catholic church has been a target for armed separatists as well as government forces.
