The Yaoundé military court has on Tuesday April 24, 2018 sentenced six Anglophone detainees to at least 11 years jail terms each. The verdict was given at about 1:30 PM by the President of the Court, as the detainees sat with confidence in on the benches as if to say whatever comes out speaks of destiny which must be fulfilled.

Consequently Lobte Jacob was given 11 years jail term, Baying Eugene and Numfor Godlove both had 12 years, Tayo Livite, Wirba Bruno and Nyuyforan Eugene were both handed 13 years imprisonment sentence. They are to jointly pay a fine of FCFA 893, 280, each paying FCFA 148,280 or get additional 9 months jail term; they have 10 days to appeal against the verdict.

The case pitting Mancho Bibixy, the coffin revolutionist and the State was suspended to allow the defense team to be complete. The case later resumed with Barrister Emmanuel Simh and Claude Assira joined the defense team.

Mancho Bibixy was heard saying that they are not bothered with the jail sentences, however they are ready to be the Mandelas of their generation.

He told bystanders that “We are enjoying the sentences. Let them continue like that.”

He added, “If I am given 15 years in prison, I will be very sad. I expect nothing less than 40 years.”

Though in high spirit, former Equinoxe Television reporter, Awah Thomas Junior looked pale as he kept coughing throughout the proceedings.

Close to 10 lawyers constituting members of the defense counsel, were still on the case of Mancho Bibixy at the time of this report, which unarguably could lead to another adjournment.
