Armed separatists seeking to make of Cameroon’s North West and South West regions an independent country christened Ambazonia have reportedly killed a seven-year-old pupil in the North West Region in a fresh attempt to shutdown schools in the area.

Otherwise referred to as Amba Boys, the armed men are said to have stormed Mbot Village, Donga Mantung Division of Cameroon’s North West Region and brutally killed 7-year-old Blaise Afanyu and cut off his mother’s hand.

“Blaise Afanyu, a young boy of at least 7 years, who began school two weeks ago, has been brutally and mercilessly murdered, and the hand of the mother Belinda Afanyu chopped off by terrorists "Ambazonian" fighters, this Tuesday January 21, 2020 in Mbot village Donga Mantung Division,” Ngala Gerard Ndombang, CPDM Section President for Donga Mantung I CPDM said in a post on Facebook.

Ngala furthered that: “His (the pupil’s) lone crime, being his decision to go back to school after being forced to stay off school for years.

“In an inhuman and shameless manner, a terrorist leader, Mark Bareta has gone on social media with his usual fake news to claim that his gang assassinated three member of the Mbot village vigilante group, just to cover up the murder of the 7-year old school kid.

“The helpless family is in pains.”

Separatist activist Mark Bareta had from his base in Ghent, Belgium announced that those killed by the Amba Boys were locals who stood against their independence quest.

While celebrating the killings, Mark Bareta took to Facebook with the following words: “3 members of … [the]… vigilante group in Mbot, Donga Mantung have been wasted. This group has engaged in terrorising the population. Just as their master, immediately any is fished out, the wasting process is immediately initiated.”

Reacting to Mark Bareta, a local, Collette Ringnyu said: “Big lies! Schools are now opened in almost all of Nkambe Central Subdivision and any attempts of amba fools to stop school or institute ghost town will be dealt with accordingly. Elections shall also take place in all tranquillity.”

Separatists have since sworn to shut down schools and disrupt local elections planned for February 9, 2020 in Cameroon.
