In a communiqué addressed to the Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute, and signed by most members of the company’s syndicate, they all regretted that following past negotiations geared towards a comfortable working space, the General Manager of the company had failed to adhere to most decisions taken.

The workers indicted that since January 2018, they have been advancing their grievances to both the GM but it all ended on table, as no concrete actions have been taken to mitigate their worries. They cited sessions held on 30/1/2018, 17/04/2018, 20/04/2018, 22/04/2018 and 07/08/2018, between members of the syndicate, the general manager of CAMPOST, and representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, to address their plight.

Their call for a strike action, comes barely a week before the celebration of the 133rd edition of the International Labour Day. This year, Cameroon chosen theme focuses on decent work, protection of workers and social justice, all these demanded by embittered CAMPOST workers.

For the past years, since 2008, workers from the Ministry of Post and Telecommunication on at the Cameroon Postal Service, former Post-Office Saving Banks workers' and those directly recruited by the Cameroon Postal Service, went on strike, asking their salaries, statues and social benefits regularised by the government and management of the company.

With the advent of internet and social media, many people diverted to the use of electronic mails. This has greatly affected the company as it strives to meet up with modern demands and sign partnerships.
