The United States Embassy in Cameroon has appreciated the role played by the Indomitable Lionesses during the ongoing Women World Cup in France, despite the fact that they bowed out at round 16, against England.

In a Facebook post on Monday, the Embassy based in Yaoundé wrote that it was proud of the girls.

“ During the Women World Cup 2019 edition in France, Google highlighted Cameroon's participation with this beautiful and vibrant Doodle. The Cameroon Lionesses played strong and upheld Cameroon's legendary status in football and represented the women in their colours. The US Embassy is proud of the Lionesses for advancing so far", it read.

This reassurance comes at a time when Cameroon is going through intense bashing from other international football analysts including the Chair of the Confederation of African Football, Women's football committee, Isha Johansen, who told the BBC that Cameroon's behaviour during their World Cup last-16 defeat by England, "reflected badly on African football".
She also said Cameroon's behaviour was an embarrassing situation.

England grabbed their place in the quarter-finals of the World Cup with a 3-0 win over Cameroon in a game which was yet again dominated by VAR decisions.

The Indomitable Lionesses protested but continued the match, accusing the referee of poor arbitration and racism. England's coach Phil Neville said the Lioness' actions were shameful.
