National Assembly President, PAN, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril has humiliated his lawyers after a 3-year-long court case, denies ever accusing his former body guard of trying to kidnap him.

It was a surprising decision from the President of the lower House of Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril that was read in court on the June 19, 2018 by the Chief Judge, hearing the case between the House Speaker and Captain Bouba Simala, his former body guard.

The decision from the House Speaker took the lawyers of the prosecution by surprise; they immediately shared different and opposing views on the content of the document signed by Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril.

The document indicated that the house speaker had never accused his former body guard of trying to kidnap him and to have committed acts of terrorism as contained in a complaint filed in by his lawyers some three years back.

One of them, Barrister Fotso who is equally CPDM Member of Parliament in the country’s National assembly, shocked with the declarations and in trying to confirm the veracity of the document identified the signature of his client but could not vividly confirm it came from him judging from the content which is in contradiction to their position in court.

The Barrister added that his client could have been manipulated to take such a decision with reasons that nothing strange or extraordinary was noticed during their last discussions. On his part, another lawyer of Mr. Cavaye, Barrister Koumai, did not hesitate to rubbish the document saying it is “Fake” both in form and content.

Though the document contradicts the initial position of the prosecuting faction, it did not in any way announce an end to the case or a withdrawal of the file from the tribunal because according to Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, the court had opened the case files and the legal procedures have to go through for justice to be rendered.

On the other hand, the Defense Counsel represented by Barrister Emmanuel Simh was calm watching the divide and confusion on the prosecution. Barrister Emmanuel Simh said it is a clear proof that the prosecution had no case and just wanted to destabilize his client for a reason best known to them.

The initial position of the prosecution was that the former body guard of Hon. Caavye Yeguie Djbril had attempted to kidnap their client including other acts of terrorism perpetrated in complicity with some top security officials in the country. That was three years ago.

Allegations denied in court by the captain who last year February was liberated on bail from the Yaoundé Central Prison in Kondengui to appear in court freely.

Worth noting is the fact that the hearing of June 19, 2018 at the military tribunal was the first in the second round since it had first been judged and a verdict passed by the tribunal.

A verdict which was appealed right up to the level of the Supreme Court and the other verdicts did not favor the prosecution before they opted for the restart of the case.

The case has been adjourned until the 7th of July, time enough for the lawyers to confirm the veracity of the document presented in court as coming from the President of the National assembly.
