Organised by the Pan-African Mosquito Control Association (PAMCA), the conference will take place under the theme," Strengthening Surveillance Systems for Vector-borne Disease Elimination in Africa".

The 6th annual conference and exhibition on vector-borne disease will assemble over 350 scientists, researchers and nongovernmental actors, members of civil society, institutions from the private sector from across Africa and around the globe.

In a press release issued by PAMCA, the main objective of the conference is to provide a platform for African institutions to show case the latest research on vector control, discuss innovation and establish networks for collaboration between researchers and strengthen advocacy for the promotion of Africa innovation and the mobilization of resources for African-led initiatives for the fight against diseases.

PAMCA's overreaching goal is to bring together experts to work together and adopt common approaches to tackling mosquito-borne diseases across Africa.

PAMCA is a professional African body, that provides a platform for capacity building, knowledge sharing and collaboration for concerted vector control initiatives in Africa. It was established in 2009 at the 5th Multilateral Initiative on Malaria, and Pan-African Malaria Conference in Nairobi.

Malaria remain a threat to Cameroonians and Africans as a whole. According to statistics from the ministry of Public Health in Cameroon, malaria affects some two million people each year, which represents 30% of consultations and 40% of hospitalisations.

Despite frequent distribution of treated mosquito bed nets to the population, data collected from the ministry showed only 59% of the population used treated bed nets in 2018
