Dr. Christopher Fomunyoh, Senior Associate and Regional Director for Central and West Africa at National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, has blamed President Paul Biya for reacting three years late, to the ongoing violence in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon.

Highlighting Biya's Thursday tweet which called on Cameroonians of whatever tribe, religion, political convictions to come together as one, Dr. Christopher Fomunyoh replied that he could have prevented the current war, if only he was there three years ago.

“It was three years ago, that this tweet would have taken all its significance. However, I had proposed an approach that appeared at the time and some of your colleagues criticized me. Today the wound is deep with deaths, atrocities. Compatriots kill each other in front of our own eyes”, replied Dr. Fomunyoh, to Biya's tweet.

He made several proposals to government on how to tackle the Anglophone crisis when it was still a baby, but regrets that government didn't listen.

After the October 2018 elections, he released a statement, raising concerns over the continuous killings in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon. In the statement, called on government to release the Anglophone leaders arrested in Abuja, Nigeria and deported to Cameroon, he called for a ceasefire from both parties which has seen the killing and destruction of properties.

He condemned all forms of violence against civilians and also advocated the revision of the country's electoral system.
Many who expected Dr. Christopher Fomunyoh to run for the October 2018 presidential elections, later received news that he couldn't walk on blood to take part in the elections. He was referring to the bloodshed in the Anglophone regions.

Dr. Fomunyoh has organized and advised international election observation missions to Africa, with. Nigeria being the latest.
As an expert on democratization in Africa, Dr. Fomunyoh makes frequent guest appearances on major radio and television networks . He also is the founder of a nonprofit organization, The Fomunyoh Foundation(TFF), where he recently assisted internally displaced persons of the Anglophone crisis.

As celebrations making the national day in Cameroon gain steam in some other towns of the country, President Paul Biya has been using social media to preach unity and peace to Cameroonians. This Friday May 10, he called on Cameroonians to be aware of their collective responsibility to build a united and prosperous Cameroon.
