After the reaction from Cameroon’s Senate President, the National Assembly led by House Speaker, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, has issued a communiqué, inviting members of the European Union Parliament to come and get ground reports on violations carried out by armed separatists in the North West and South West regions.

While focusing mainly on the Anglophone crisis, the house speaker on behalf of other representatives said President Paul Biya was taking necessary measures(supported by the National Assembly), to see an end to the ongoing violence in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon.

He assured on the EU Parliament and other parliaments in the world that these measures were appropriate following increasing attacks from armed separatists, while calling on their international partners to support President Paul Biya's efforts in putting an end to violence, carried out in these regions.

He further Cameroon strictly respects the laws of freedom of expression in conformity with national and international norms. Highlighting that Cameroon remains a sovereign state, the National Assembly head suggested that the house was ready for any form of dialogue within or out of the country, on the current sociopolitical tension in the English speaking regions.

On April 18, the European Union Parliament adopted some proposals to Cameroon in relation to the crisis, plaguing the North West and South West regions, alongside the political crisis provoked by a manifestation of members of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement(CRM), of Maurice Kamto.

In the document, the parliament condemned acts of violence, intimidations and human rights violations mainly carried out by Cameroon’s military, and partly by armed separatists. They called on the government of Cameroon to check all allegations against its military, while calling on the release of members of the opposition party, CRM.

Their intervention provoked an earlier release from the country's Upper House of Assembly led by Niat Njifenji Marcel, considered EU's concern as a smear campaign.
