The Cameroon People's Party (CPP), led by Edith Kah Walla, has blamed the recent violence in Sangmelima, South region on the porous social and economic integration policies implemented by government in the country.

In a press statement issued on the tensions within the city of President Paul Biya, CPP national secretary general, Franck Essi regretted that the tragedy at Sangmelima was coming at a time when Cameroon is facing several tension from all parts of the country.

The release condemned the attacks on other communities by indigenes of Sangmelima, reminding them that it was unlawful for them to take the laws into their hands.

" It is unacceptable to commit violence and looting against other citizens. It is absolutely unacceptable to want to turn an individual crime into a cross-community problem", it stated.

In an effort to promote peace, the CPP called on Cameroonians to be calm, measured, reserved, cautious and circumspect in speaking, while blaming poor government practices. The party believes the antidote to the violence in Sangmelima remains social and economic solutions to people's problems.

"Through these blind and violent crowd movements, we observe the result of the inadequacies and failures of social and economic integration policies that leave large numbers of young men and women, condemned to survive as best they can.", she said.

"The lack of education, employment and social mobility are factors that expose many compatriots to the winds of banditry, incivility and sometimes rejection of others.", added the party.

It further condemned what the statement called 'speeches of manipulation by the false elites', who to her, are unable to implement projects that raise educational and living standards of the people; who only recognise their communities, during elections.

To the opposition party, the family of young Assam Belinga Benjamin Junior who was murdered as a result of the tension must be to justice thereby knowning who is responsible for his murder.

Meantime, It also calls on law officials to punish all those who damaged and looted properties, as a result of the tension.
