The question and answer session of the National Assembly remains the most interesting part of discussions at the Glass House, as ministers are forced to give accounts of some actions they have been taking.

Senator Barrister Kemende Henry Gamsey from the North West region, who is also a member of the Resolutions and Petition committee at the Senate, is one amongst those who have been putting ministers on a hot seat. The National Assembly is currently meeting for the second ordinary session of the 2019 legislative year.

Addressing the Minister of Territorial Administration this Tuesday, June 18, Senator Kemende asked Minister Atanga Nji Paul to describe the respective land surface areas and populations placed under the control of the newly created third class chiefdoms of Moukang quarter in Babungo subdivision and an Aldorate in Balikumbat, all in the North West region. He was concerned over the fact that this recent decision of the minister's, could lead to inner squabbles between neighbouring chiefs and the newly created chiefdoms.

He was also concerned about the threat on traditional authorities by the Governor of the South West region during weeklong activities leading to National Day celebrations in the area. He asked the minister if administration wasn't aware of the important role traditional rulers play in governance.

"Is match pass on National Day one of the duties of Traditional Rulers", he questioned.

Minister Atanga was also questioned on what his government was doing to put in place a consensus national day celebration that will reflect the aspirations of a cross section of Cameroonians, paying attention to the fact that recently people are forced to go and March rather than doing it out of their will.

Facing the Minister of Communication Rene Sadi , Senator Kemende was worried over the fact that he quickly denied claims of responsibility by separatists, on the SONARA fire incident, which implied government already had partial results of the fire incident. He questioned what government gained from denying separatists' claim, while at same time accusing them of other crimes of even lesser magnitude

Minister Sadi was also asked to explain why the Chairman of the Social Democratic Front party(SDF), was denied access into SONARA and how soon the company will get back to normal.

Barister Kemende's concerns to the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife centered on the transformation of a conservation site for an endangered chimpanzee specie into a timber exploitation area, asking if civil society organisations on the ground are right when they suspect corruption by some timber exploitation companies, is behind the change of policy.

Some questions to the minister of mines, industry and technological development was to explain how the decision to dissolve POWERCAM was taken and how positively it has impacted the Cameroonian society.
Most of these questions represent doubts and concerns, Cameroonians have towards government’s decisions.
