An outsider Fai Elvis Nzedzemi from the North West Region of Cameroon has emerged winner of this year’s edition of the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope.

The athlete beat bookmakers to write his name in the history books of the competition. He used 4 hours, 25 minutes and 8 seconds. He backed home a trophy and a cash prize of 10 million francs from the hands of SW Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai.

Regular God love Gabsibuin was pushed to the second position just one minute after using 4 hours, 26 minutes, 7 seconds. The winner of the second position backs home 5 million francs, Gabsibuin explains the reason his position to his part pair of shoes which came off when he was in action.

Son of Queen of the Mountain, Essome Lyonga who is also a soldier came on the third spot covering the distance in 4 hours, 35 minutes and 10 seconds. He backed home 2 million francs.

Mbatcha Eric who was rehearsing the name King was leapfrogged to the 4th spot.

In the female category Ngalim Lizette used 5 hours, 9 minutes and 45 seconds to grab the sum of 10 million francs.

After her arrival, it took 18 minutes for the next lady to cross the finishing line, Ngwaya Yvonne used 5 hours,27 minutes and 56 seconds to finish 2nd while Wingo Kfufila came 3rd.

The woman who stole the show despite her later arrival was Queen of the Mountain Sarah Liengu Etonge who came on the 9th spot but whose arrival was received with thunderous applauds. She was escorted right at the entrance into the Molyko Stadium to the finishing line. Her participation in this year’s race was to foster Peace and Unity amid tension in the two English speaking regions.
