The people of Wum, Menchum Division of the North West region, and the Mbororo community have seemingly agreed on staying together, in a peaceful and serene atmosphere.

Reports say this peaceful agreement comes after the leaders of the Mbororo community has apologised to the people of Wum, following recent tension that led to the killing of people and destruction of property in Naikom village, Wum.

The reconciliation process took place over the weekend, where the two communities stated they there is an evil intruder that is setting confusion between the two peaceful communities in Wum. The Fulanis agreed that they had been misled by external forces. They agreed to bury their differences and live together as one, for the good of the community.

Armed separatists attacked the Mbororo community in Wum on the night of the 30th and 31st of May 2019, killing one of their leaders, burning down over 40 houses and killed their animals (Mbororos main source of income).

On the 2nd of June, the Mbororo community along with some Hausas retaliated on the people of Naikom, killing two, wounding four and setting fire to over 100 houses. The acts of violence were conducted in the presence of gendarmerie officers, who filmed the acts and shared on social media.
Armed separatists have often accused the Mbororo community for working hand in gloves with military officers to report on their activities. On the other hand, the Mbororo community is said to have attacked the people of Naikom on accusations that they are hosting armed separatists in their neihhbourhood.

Government intervened in the escalating violence in Wum, promising to compensate all the victims of the said attacks, and arresting the culprits.
