Cameroon - West Region: Four Die In Bafoussam, Others Homeless In fire Incidents

Three separate fire incidents in 24 hours have caused untold suffering to victims. In Djeleng 5, a locality in Bafoussam West region of Cameroon, four persons lost their lives in fire outbreak which occurred Tuesday night around 11 PM.

A lady called Beatrice who works in a local financial institution and her three kids perished in the inferno leaving the entire population into total pandemonium.

Neighbors recount how they heard loud noise from the apartment of the victims but were helpless as the wild flames became unbearable to standby.

Despite arrival of the Bafoussam Fire fighting brigade, the four had died.

In tears, the house girl of the victims Christabel Ngwelaah recounts how she left the kids the previous day promising to bring them something when next she comes. She said she was surprised to discover an empty house when she came.

Their bodies have been deposited in mortuary while the exact cause of the incident has not been established.

Elsewhere in New Bell Douala 2 municipality, a family has been in the cold following a fire outbreak which occurred Tuesday afternoon by 1pm. Fire ravaged two rooms constructed with planks and according to the owner, the sum of over 300 thousands perished in the flames.

Other valuable items also vanished in the inferno. Locals suspect a short circuit as major cause.

Late Wednesday March 1, 2017 another fire incident reduced to ground level a house in Bepanda entrée Lycee in Douala 5 municipality.
