President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria is expected to return to the country tomorrow, Friday 10 March 2017, the president’s media adviser, Femi Adesina has said in a statement.
President Buhari departed Abuja for London on January 19, 2017 after informing the National Assembly that he intended going on a short vacation during which he would also undergo a medical check-up and return on February 6, 2017.
He failed to come back on the announced date amidst huge anticipation and wild speculation about his health.
While Nigerians were anxiously waiting for his return, the 74-years-old president rather informed the National Assembly that he would extend his stay to await some test results.
Rumours had declared him dead but Mr Femi said the holiday was extended based on doctors' recommendation.
Mr Femi said during his stay in the United Kingdom, president Buhari had routine medical check-ups.
“President Buhari expresses appreciation to teeming Nigerians from across the country, and beyond, who had prayed fervently for him, and also sent their good wishes,” Femi Adesina said.
