Cameroon Film Industry Wins Six Awards In Ghana

The film industry in Cameroon was at the centre of attraction in Accra, Ghana Saturday June 2, 2018 during the 2018 Golden Movie Award. The Industry bagged home 6 Awards wins just one movie, “A Good Time to Divorce”

Cameroonian born movie star, Alenne Menget beat the likes of Majid Michel, Mike Eruruonye and Ramsey Noah to become the best Actor in Africa.

Alenne’s role as main actor in the movie, “A good Time to Divorce,” was unprecedented accompanied by launch of the movie in several States in the US.

The multi-talented Cameroonian actor, Alenne Menget in an emotional speech at the Award venue, dedicated it to Cameroonians hoping that peace will return to the two English speaking regions, urging both sides to drop weapons and let dialogue take its course.

A "Good Time to Divorce", captured the hearts of voters and Jury to sweep almost all categories, best Art Director, best Director, best Writer, best Actor, best Drama and overall best Movie.

This award comes just a year after another Cameroonian Series, Samba bagged home 3 awards last July.

The Series marshaled by Producer Brenda Shey Elung won the Best actress which went to Ade Kelly, Best Actor by Libota McDonald and Best TV Series.

After the victory, Producer Brenda Shey Elung said  “Kudos to the fantastic script writer PROXY, the amazing director ENAH John Scott, Achille Brice,  Dr Ray,  Delvis, Anurin, Jeffrey Epule, Nina Marie, Otia Vitalis, Nsang Dilong and the entire SAMBA team once more for the hard work and determination. Even though we all could not be present, it was a blast with the warm and welcoming audience.

This year’s triumph in Ghana is an indication that despite the scandals rocking the industry on daily basis, it is growing by lips and bounds.
