Reports from Kumbo, Bui Division of the North West Region say Government primary school Kikaikelaka has been completely burnt down by unknown individuals (see attached photos below).

Sources gathered from neighbours and witnesses say the said school may have been razed for accommodating the 2016/2017 Common Entrance and First Schools Leaving Certificate examinations (FSL).

Inspite of very tight security, the Primary school Kaikilaika in Kumbo, Banso has been flamed by unidentified individuals, they carried out the act and disappeared before security could be alerted. Notwithstanding the tense and frightening presence of the forces of law and order who are spread across the different Divisional and Sub Divisional levels and villages in the North West, the incident occurred during the early hours of Wednesday, around 3 am, according to reports.

In the absence of the fire fighting brigade, neigbours and well wishers only discovered the fire late and could only lament the material damages and the impact on school resumption in the North West Region. Observers are worried of the safety of pupils and students as there are a lot of political and religious campaigns to resume schools in the North West Region.

Investigations are underway as usual; some sources claim that the incident is the handwork of some activist who claims to be fighting for the Anglophone Course. This is not the first fire incident consuming a school structure in the North West Region; several schools have been reduced to ashes, including markets, police stations, Hotel and several private properties.
