Miss Cameroon 2013, Denise Valérie Ayena, is taking part in the 63rd edition of the Miss World pageant that has opened after protests by Muslim hard-liners confined the event to Indonesia’s predominantly Hindu resort island of Bali.
The opening ceremony Sunday September 8, which was televised to 186 countries, featured Bali’s Kecak Dance and a parade of all 131 contestants. Indonesia’s government moved the final round of the event, initially set for September 28 outside Jakarta, the capital, to Bali following protests by hard-line Muslims in Jakarta and other cities.
Cameroon’s Denise Valérie Ayena was born and raised in Douala, a coastal city in southern Cameroon. Describing herself as a “cheerful and bubbly person”, Denise is currently enrolled at a South African university where she is studying Communications. Her life ambition is to become a successful broadcast journalist, preferably covering events.
Having an artistic nature, Denise enjoys painting and drawing, as well as traditional African dancing. In her spare time she enjoys watching motocross, her favourite book is the Da Vinci Code and she considers herself a “culinary tourist”, delighting in trying new flavours of food.
A month-long series of events await the contestants of the Miss World 2013 including Denise. State of the art studios and world class sports stadiums will showcase the talent and sports challenges. Unique and original outfits from the leading designers in Indonesia will add a local flair to the Top Model and Beach Fashion events. Working with our hosts MNC Group (X-Factor, Indonesian Idol), Miss World 2013 will be a first class entertainment extravaganza.
So far, Miss Cameroon has already been eliminated from the Beach Fashion Eliminators and the Miss World Sports Challenge. Under the careful eye of our fitness experts, the contestants had to perform a selection of four fitness exercises, for 30 seconds per exercise. After each routine, the total number of repetitions was added together giving them a total score.
