The family of late late Neba Maltha Mbuh, killed in cold blood at their residence in Muyuka on May 20, have fled their homes for safety reasons, after pressure mounted on them following claims that military was responsible for the murder of the child.

Having received threatening calls and messages from people they barely know, the father of the child, Funi Zephania Neba revealed that they no longer felt safe in their home and wanted to stay safe.

On May 20, the family and members of the community revealed that military stormed the area and attacked the neighbourhood. They broke into the home of Mr. Funi, while the baby was lying on the sofa. They only returned to see the baby killed and bullets all over the place.

The mother, Emilia Agbor in a video accused Cameroonian soldiers for killing the baby, while laying a series of curses on them. Canal 2 English reported that local security officials asked the family should write a case and drop and their offices but they were reluctant.

Government Spokesperson, Rene Emmanuel Sadi, rather gave a different narrative to the incident, judging from the video he got online, stating it was a fabricated attempt by separatist fighters to tarnish the image of professional soldiers of the Cameroonian military.

Many have been highlighting what they term, ‘discrepancies to the story', but the family of he victim have been insisting to the media that the military killed their baby. The Minister of Communication further called the father of Martha an ex-separatists who was wanted by the military. Many have been expressing worry over the safety of the family, who are now said to be on the run, for security reasons.

Organisations concerned with human rights violations have been condemning the act against the little baby, with some pressurising government to investigate the crime scene and bring justice to baby Maltha.
