Elangwe Godwin Motoko alias General Goddy has responded to Minister Atanga Nji’s epistle calling on armed separatists to drop their weapons and abandon the “dangerous adventure”.

The repentant fighter was lord over Bole, Kombone Mission, Kwa Kwa, Nake, and other enclave localities in Meme Division of Cameroon’s South West Region.

A smile-filled Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Meme Division, Chamberlain Ntou’ou Ndong received ‘General Goddy’ on March 2, 2021, at his office in Kumba.

The SDO urged other separatist fighters to copy the example of ‘General Goddy’ and drop their weapons. He hailed the repentant separatist fighter for heeding Territorial Administration Minister Atanga Nji’s call for separatists to willingly drop their arms in their own interest.

“Don’t wait for the military to come looking for you. The government is helping you to lay down your arms,” Atanga Nji said in a message to armed fighters.

"If you are afraid to hand your weapons at the Divisional Officer's office or to gendarmes, police, and/or soldiers, go to the bishops, priests, pastors, or traditional rulers. Take the guns to them and they will facilitate your movement to the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration, DDR, centres,” said Atanga Nji.

“If you are in a group, and are afraid, take your weapons with you, raise a white handkerchief in your left hands and a peace plant in your right hands to show that you have surrendered. Cameroon has a very professional army. When they see you coming with hands raised, they will protect you and take you to the DDR centre as instructed by President Paul Biya,” the minister furthered.

Chief Ivens Nofuruh of Nake Bokoko is credited for convincing ‘General’ Goddy to drop down his weapons.

A visibly happy ‘General’Goddy did not spare the opportunity to exchange pleasantries and souvenir photos with the Meme SDO. The repentant fighter promised to walk in the path of righteousness and lead efforts to disarm his former peers.

Activists familiar with the Ambazonia separatist movement say 'General' Goddy was part of those who started the armed rebellion in Meme Division.

He was reportedly part of the first batch of separatist fighters recruited in 2017 and given training by some outlaws in Nigeria in July 2017. General Goddy allegedly championed atrocities and human rights abuses.
