Rt. Rev. Fonki Samuel Forba, sixth Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, PCC, thanked God Sunday, March 15, 2020, as he begins his second five-year mandate at the helm of the protestant church.

Sunday’s twin ceremony at the courtyard of the Presbyterian Comprehensive Secondary School (PCSS) Buea Town also saw the induction into service of the new PCC Synod Clerk, the Rev Miki Hans Abia.

The solemn church service was pegged on the theme “Wake Up, Watch Out” drawn from the Revelations of John Chapter 3:2.   Attended by a cross section of lay faithful and the clergy, Rt. Rev Fonki worshipped God for abiding with the PCC for the last five years, praying for better days.

The PCC Moderator said “Wake Up, Watch Out” will be the mantra of the Church for the next five years. It shows the church’s commitment to God and its service to the nations, Fonki said.

“The message ‘Wake Up, Watch Out’ is timely. Strengthen what remains and is about to die. To wake up is to be watchful,” the Church leader said in a soul-searching sermon. “This is a call to the church to do the right. As a church we should do the right things out of love and not to please people but to please God. Be faithful even if it costs your life. Repent and believe dear Presbyterians by receiving the word of God in your lives.”

The Moderator preached further: “Keep standing, hoping and believing because Jesus is coming soon. Watch and pray. Presbyterians Repent, Repent, Repent or you perish. Time has come for us to change the world; we must stand up as true Christians of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon. Let us stand up and win Cameroon back for God.

“Wake up and let us fight corruption, let us take our church from self-sustainability to self-sufficiency. Watch out for the wolf in sheep clothing, watch out for those who smile with you in the face but have negative plans for you in their mind. Time is not on our side. It’s either now or never. Arise, wake up, and watch out, the destiny of our nation is in our hands.

“Presbyterians Wake Up, Watch out God is on our side; Hallelujah”

An institution and induction ceremony is an ecclesiastical rite by which a church leader is introduced into his/her new function and endowed with spiritual authority to function to the glory of God. Moderators in the PCC are elected for a five-year term renewable once.

The PCC is carved out into 30 presbyteries over the national territory with 567 clergy with a total of 1,553 congregations. The PCC which has congregations in Belgium, Finland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, USA and South Africa is aimed at proclaiming the good news of God through Jesus Christ, in word and action. The ceremony was also set aside to raise funds for the construction of a new Synod Office.
