Prof. Ernest Molua, UB Registrar Molua
Prof. Ernest Lytia Molua, the newly appointed Registrar of the University of Buea, UB, has pledged to maintain the integrity of the institution and its academic records.

He made the pledge in post on Facebook, August 27, 2019, shortly after a presidential decree named him Registrar of UB in replacement of Professor Roland Ndip who becomes Dean of UB’s Faculty of Science.

Hear Molua: “I appreciate! Together we shall build our growing baby, the University of Buea (UB), as I am called to serve as Registrar: providing administrative and logistical support for UB’s curriculum, maintaining the integrity of its institutional and educational records, enforcing its policies, and facilitating a culture that preserves the values of UB and its community. To God be the Glory.”

Prior to his appointment, Ernest Lytia Molua was Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in UB. The Associate Professor of Agricultural and Applied Economics served previously as the pioneer Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agri-business, in the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine of the University of Buea, Cameroon.

Molua lectures and researches on issues of agro-environmental economics. He obtained a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the Georg-August University of Goettingen in Germany, and an MSc in Agriculture Land Use and Natural Resource Management from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is also holder of MSc. and BSc. degrees in Agricultural Economics and Extension Service from the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria.

After Tuesday’s appointment, he told The Post that he is happy and excited, thanking the hierarchy of the University of Buea, the Ministry of Higher Education and President Paul Biya for having bestowed the trust on him.

His words: “For it is a call to duty, responsibility to serve young Cameroonians and our student population. I pray and hope that the good Lord will give me the strength to be able to do this kind of an assignment. There is competition in the admission students. This University also has a responsibility to the community; therefore, we can no longer afford to be very elitist in the sense that it is only those who have scored very high points that will be taken.

“Our doors are open to train Cameroonians who have been declared successful and reshape them and empower them so that, by the time we send them out to the community, they are men and women who can do something. Being an administrator and Registrar in the central administration of the University of Buea, I will have to find time and go to class and teach students in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness.”
