Elections Cameroon has published the list of candidates from political parties, selected to run for the upcoming municipal and legislative elections, with the CPDM standing alone in four constituencies from the English speaking regions hit by crisis.

The electoral body made public this information during a press conference in Yaounde on Monday evening.

According to the list from the North West and South West regions, there would be a tough battle between the ruling party, CPDM and the Social Democratic Front, SDF.

Constituencies such as Indian, Meme West, Kupe Muanengouba and Donga-Mantung West, have already seen the CPDM win by forfeiture.

In Donga-Mantung West, the SDF MP, Honourable Awudu Mbaya, decided to boycott the elections claiming he wouldn't run as long as government failed to solve the Anglophone crisis.

In the North West, two other parties, the UDP and OPDC and BRIC are contesting in some major parts of the region, while the South West remains for both the ruling party and main opposition.

Following statistics released by ELECAM, a total of 470 lists of candidates were submitted by 35 political parties, but 451 were retained.

Municipal and Legislative elections will therefore take place on the 9th of February 2020, despite all calls for a boycott.
