There's been a popular outcry and condemnation following the discovery of the body parts of a young soldier of the Cameroon Defense Forces in Muyuka yesterday Wednesday April 24, 2019.

"A young gendarme by name Adam Assana picked up yesterday by unknown armed men has been found this morning decapitated and parts of his body littered on the highway," a viral message on social media read Wednesday.

Information is to the effect that the gendarme was abducted by unknown armed men on the night of April 23 in Muyuka, a subdivision in Cameroon's South West Region.

It will appear his captors later killed him, dismembered his remains and threw the body parts along the Buea-Kumba highway.

Pictures making rounds on social media show the head and limbs of Adam Assana on the tarmac. A stick appears to have been forced into his mouth. It is not known where the body of the deceased soldier is,  given that most photos only show the head and limbs.

No one has claimed responsibility for the act. The shocking images circulating since yesterday morning have however whipped up sentiments from many; the condemnation has been general.

"The gendarme brutally slaughtered and dismembered in Muyuka today by Ambazonian terrorists," Frankline Njume said in a Facebook post that carried a photo of the deceased in military wear.

"The world has opted for blindness and deafness vis-à-vis the deteriorating conditions in southern Cameroons. This is just an idea of what's happening here," Ayah Ayah Abine tweeted along with some gory pictures.

Maybelle Boma in a Facebook post expressed her condolences to the bereaved family and called for dialogue."My condolences to the family of  gendarme ADAM ASSANA kidnapped and beheaded today in Muyuka in the South West region of Cameroon. May your soul rest in peace. I heard he was a kind-hearted man. Peace and dialogue for God's sake to stop the senseless war," Boma said.

"We have been fighting for three years plus now…nobody has won the other in the war. Can't we rethink on our positions and spare the innocent lives for God's sake? Give peace a chance. Ceasefire, drop your arms and dialogue. Inclusive dialogue is the only way out. My heart bleeds," said Barrister Tamfu Richard, Human Rights Advocate and Peace Crusader.
