Cameroon – Education: 2019 GCE Results Released!

Results of the 2019 session of examinations organized by the Cameroon General Certificate of Education Board have been released with a marked improvement of 11.9% in the performance of candidates.

According to official statistics from the Cameroon GCE Board made public Monday, July 29, 2019, the performance of candidates has moved from 62.27% in 2018 to 74.24% in 2019. The Minister of Secondary Education, Nalova Lyonga in releasing the results congratulated the candidates and stakeholders who followed the instructions of the Minister to organize hitch free examinations, as well as government for the constant support.

The results are available online on the website www.minesec.gov.cm , on the national station of the CRTV and different examination centres.

According to statistics gathered from the CGCE board, a total number of 110,916 candidates registered for the examination this 2019, while 98,015 sat. 66,846 passed recording a percentage pass of 74.24, as compared to 62.27% recorded in 2018. Hence, there was an 11.97 percent increase in 2019.

Here's the breakdown:

Advanced Levels Generals, there was 78.36% pass, A/L Technical = 89.34%, O/L Generals = 62.15%, and O/L Technical = 67.34%.

37 candidates scored 25 points at A/L with 5 A grades.

It would be recalled that 67,939 candidates registered for the Ordinary Level General, while only 58,759 sat for the exams with 36,517 making it in flying colours. This gives a percentage pass of 62.15%, up from 50% in 2018.

Of the 31,716 candidates who registered for the Advanced Level General, 31,182 sat with 24,434 making it. The percentage pass thus moved from 67.5% in 2018 to 78.36% in 2019.

At the Ordinary Level Technical, 4,723 registered, 4,440 sat, 2,782 passed. The percentage pass stands at 67.14% as against 58.2% in 2018. Of the 3,676 candidates who registered for the Advanced Level Technical, 3,634sat with 3,113 making it. The percentage pass thus moved from73.4% in 2018 to 89.34% in 2019.

The West region comes first while the Far North is last in the general classification of the results by regions.
