Students of the Siantou University Complex in Yaounde have sent a vote of thanks to the President of the Republic, Paul Biya for equipping them with 9, 830 laptops.

The word of gratitude echoed by the proprietor of the school complex, Hon Wantou Siantou Lucien and his students was sent through the Minister of State for Higher Education and Chancellor of Academic Orders, Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo last May 22, 2019 as he chaired the official distribution ceremony of the Paul Biya Higher Education Vision (PBHeV) laptops to students of this pioneer private university in Cameroon.

Addressing the students, Minister of State, Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo said “the donor, President Paul Biya as a man of his words made the 500 000 laptop promise and effective distribution followed soon after to both students of public and private higher institutions of learning in the country registered during the 2016/2017 academic year. As you can see therefore, he did not forget the Siantou University Complex.”

He reminded them that the gesture falls in line with the vision of the Head of State to connect them up with the irreversible and optimal digital world.

“within the framework of a futurist programme known as E-national Higher Education Network, government obtained a FCFA 75 billion loan from China for the fabrication of the 500, 000 laptops and the construction of 8 digital development centres in the eight state universities and one in the Inter-State Cameroon-Congo University based in Sagmelima as demanded by H.E President Biya.” He added.

Reassuring recipients that the laptops are of good quality, the Minister of State told beneficiaries to make good use of them and enjoy a two years guarantee.

“Preserve your laptops with method, rigour and care because it is a presidential gift,” he concluded.
