At least 40 youths have been trained on generating solar energy for personal use, coming at a time when many are complaining of frequent blackouts.

It was during a one week training workshop on green and renewable, organized by Hope for Africa through sustainable development HaSD, that these youths learnt how to naturally maintain energy in their homes, following poor supply from national electricity supply company, ENEO.

In partnership with other networks, such as EMS Cameroon, Regnant, FAETOP, and ESSI, the workshop on skilled development training on renewable solar energy and biogas ran from the 15th-19th July 2019, in Bonaberi, Douala, with experts on solar energy production as facilitators.

According to the Founder of HaSD, Wirmvem Prosper Wiykinyuy, they have been doing a lot of networking on the topic, which has today yielded fruits, as more persons are getting interested in the project.

“ We have Pregnant Energy solution which is a factory producing solar equipment. So we hope to empower our partners with the equipment at a very low price that can permit them work properly”, said the Founder.

Agah Formuyen, partner and legal consultant trained with United nation on climate change, said it was important to support green energy production, which is already leading in some other countries. He called on government to encourage such initiatives.

“ I am here to support this initiative because the whole world is suffering today due to climate change and the whole world is going green at the moment. So there is the need for every one to come on board to support such green energy. In the world, India is first…... That is why am happy with the India partners and its not by chance that they are partnering with HASD to create a green environment. The trainees have learnt how to access green climate phones, put to fight against climate change.

A participant, Kejieh Browdom Mbengwa said he learnt how to install the solar panel and how to use both ENEO and the solar system in his house.

“ As a fashion designer, my dream is to install the solar energy system in all fashion houses in Cameroon, create more income and avoid power outage”, said Mbengwa.

Created in 2019, HaSD has as objective, to enhance agricultural activities, environmental protection, nature preservation, encourage education and vocational training, promote basic health in local communities, renewable energy and technological development.

After Cameroon, the team will be moving Benin from the 22nd-28th July 2019 and in Nigeria from the 29th-2nd August 2019, where they would carryout a similar activity.
